Statement:
The project is to build new social housing in Taichung Fengyuan district. The project contains 4 different types of housing, studio, single room, double room and accessible room.
The task of the project is to deal with the lighting along the hallway and chaotic cable under the ceiling. As well as creating the best first impression for the lobby and reception before entering the building.
Design strategy:
1. Lobby / Reception desk - A huge vertical dull space at the lobby is not welcoming. Injecting a proper size volume with warm colour texture inside the gigantic space could bring a sense of home and safety. Given a bit of metal and cold colour of texture would tweak the heaviness of space.
2. Hallway and Ceiling - All pipes and cables along the hallway are chaotic and messy. Using the metal mesh and cable tray to clean up and blur the messiness under the ceiling.
The hallway is long, narrow and dark. Brighten up the space with even lighting by placing the light in a staggered way and irradiate directly on to the white wall.
